The Adur festival opening event in Fishersgate on Saturday 24th May was terrific. Over 300 school children, parents and local people turned up to enjoy music, capering and fun with the amazing giant snail from the Insect Circus and other strange creatures. Belly dancers enchanted the crowds and the Black Eagles just blew people away with their spectacular show.
Headmistress of Eastbrook School, Julia Sherlock, said it was great to see families from Southwick and north of the railway line discovering the Fishergate Centre as a venue for the very first time, and she is excited about partnering up with the Adur Festival and the Fishersgate Centre again for more activities and events in the future.
In preparation for the Adur Festival opening event in Fishersgate, the Over 55's Group have made a 'Strange Creatures' banner in an arts workshop led by artist Elizabeth Mienert, Pop Gun Productions. The Over 55's group meet at 2pm on the first Wednesday of every month all year round at the Fishersgate Centre and welcome new members. They like to play cards and chat over a cup of tea and biscuits. Sometimes they organise excursions to a variety of places including garden centres and have guest visitors, organise activities and talks. Please feel free to turn up and get involved.
